Sephida Artis-Mills
Sephida is the Co-Founder and President of the United Empowerment Party (UEP), dedicated to equity, empowerment, and social justice. With a background in technology, consumer electronics, and gaming, she transitioned into cannabis over five years ago to address consumer safety, regulatory standards, and compliance. She co-founded BirthMark, a tech platform developed with Redman, designed to bring transparency and accountability to the industry. By integrating her expertise in tech with advocacy, Sephida has become a leader in reshaping cannabis policy and representation.
For over a decade, she has fought for Black and Brown communities’ access to technology and entrepreneurship, working to close economic gaps. Now, she brings that same passion to cannabis, ensuring fair representation in legislation and industry leadership. As a CannaMom, her advocacy is personal—her daughter Khansaa, a heart transplant recipient born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), has benefited from cannabis-based treatments. This experience fuels her commitment to patient rights, education, and equitable access to medical cannabis.
As UEP President, Sephida works to dismantle systemic barriers in cannabis, advocating for policies that reflect the needs of underserved communities. She is dedicated to driving an inclusive and just industry that prioritizes equity, economic opportunity, and healthcare access for all.
Nina Thomas
A dedicated scientist and wellness practitioner, she explores the fascinating intersection of cannabis, its active compounds, and the microbial world. As the owner of Thunder Ridge Farms in Virginia, she cultivates hemp, medicinal mushrooms, and herbs while leading innovative research in plant science and the human microbiome. A Navy veteran herself, her farm also supports U.S. military veterans through an upcoming hemp cultivation program. She also partnered with a tea farm in Kenya to create premium hemp-infused herbal teas. With over 20 years as a yoga practitioner and instructor, she specialize in cannabis-enhanced yoga sessions that deepen connections between wellness and nature. Her work bridges science and holistic wellness, empowering others to embrace the healing power of plants.
